#GetActive MX4 Group Training - New for January 2018

As part of the Partnership with Matrix Fitness, Sport will be introducing new MX4 Group Training Sessions from January 2018. MX4 will use 4 weeks of undulating periodisation, ensuring workouts are holistic in nature, and will look to address the four pillars of fitness – endurance, strength, power and cardio.

The Fitness Instructors here in Sport took part in the official MX4 Training on Wednesday 1st November, which now enables Sport to deliver the Group Training Sessions within our NEW Functional Training Suite. Fitness and Services Manager, Matthew Monks, gave his thoughts on the day:

The MX4 training day was really informative- the staff and I really found it useful and we learnt many new tricks of the trade. Matt from Matrix was a great coach and is very knowledgeable , his approach to science and training I really enjoyed. I really think the MX4 training classes will take off here  and we are now excited to get the class started and translate it to a success’” 


MX4 Group Training programs will provide a varied platform to consistently engaging our members over a sustained period of 12 weeks, ensuring the weekly workouts offer progressions, introducing the correct proportion of variables at appropriate times, via changes made to exercise selection, tempo load and exercise intensity. Most importantly, the sessions will ensure to be adaptable for all abilities and easy to engage within, at any point within the programmes.  

We have 3 showcase sessions pencilled in for January 2018, beginning on Monday 22nd January 12.15-1.00pm, Wednesday 24th January 5.15-6.00pm and Friday 26th January 12.15-1.00pm  These will be completely free to attend as Showcase Sampling Classes - Just pop into Sports Centre Reception to book on, and #GetActive within the Mx4 Group Training Classes in the New Year!
