DSAS Sports Day 2017

Date: Jun 08, 2017

#GetActive

Our Second Annual DSAS Sports Day is just around the corner, and this time DSAS Events and Team Salford are teaming up to raise money for local charity Mind in Salford.

We will look to help the charity continue to make a difference towards their key social objectives; positively impacting the mental health, and well being of those in our local area of Salford. Physical Activity is a prevalent tool to help tackle these issues, and we feel that the DSAS Sports Day can help spotlight the social value of Sport as a mechanism to achieve these aims, through the unique activity settings, and the subsequent funds generated, through mass participation (and engagement level) within this event.

The core elements of the Sports Day concept should resonate with us all, at some level, through the Traditional School Sports Day Activity format. While some of us may have actively tried to avoid P.E at School, it was usually a different story when it came to Sports Day, as it got us out of the classroom – and this is essentially the same concept! Engaging in physical activity (especially within a team format) helps to build character and resilience, and is a powerful tool to help us connect with others.  We will look to break down the psychological barriers to activity participation, reinvigorating, and bringing to the forefront the social aspects of engaging in physical activity on Campus, through the variety of unique activity settings, within the DSAS Sports Day format.

We see everyone that engages within the event (within some form) as key elements of Team Salford, and an active staff population is a much more enthused, motivated, and productive one.  So ensure to come down and witness the second annual DSAS Sports Day, and above all… make sure you have fun and enjoy it!

Due the success of the event last year, and the increased level of demand, we may have to create more space to accommodate everyone!

What we would like to ask is for teams to register as early as possible, so if we have to tweak the format (due to the increased level of entries) we can do this in good time, and make the relevant communication to our participants. To sign up all you have to do is click this link and follow the instructions.

Good luck to all on Friday 30th June!
